Make Your Own Valentines!
Nothing says “I love you,” like a good, old-fashioned Valentine….turned anew, of course. This year, transform your breakfast table into a crafting station and try one (or both) of our spins on the classic love note. Then, help the kids make Valentine mailboxes to stash their sweet treats and reads.
Homemade Valentine’s Day Cards:
This year, go homemade for Valentine’s Day. Grab a few basic craft supplies and a handful of your favorite cereal to create custom cards. Declare your love with a mustachioed card or tell your Valentine that you cereal-sly love them by using your favorite breakfast cereal to decorate the note.
What you need:
- A handful of your favorite cereal
- Construction paper
Fold cards from construction paper and set out supplies. Get creative with cereal patterns or make a mustache love note (we have a handy print-out to make cutting ‘stache shapes a breeze!)
Turn your empty milk jug into Valentine-boasting love bug.
What you need:
- Plastic milk gallon-sized jugs (washed and dried)
- Craft supplies (we used pipe cleaners, pom-poms, and google-y eyes)
Wash and dry an empty milk jug, and then cut a “mouth” at the top of the jug. Set up a painting area and let the kids paint the outside; set the cartons aside for about 20 minutes while the paint dries. In the meantime, cut out hearts, twist together pipe cleaners, and plan out pom-pom patterns. Once the paint is dry, let the kids customize their mailboxes!
